Starting a new life as a home business entrepreneur can be exciting, intoxicating, mysterious and stressful all at the same time. You’ve picked your company and sponsor, invested funds, gotten your website up and running and but now three months in you’re wondering why you’re not seeing the huge paydays you expected. Others in your company are making a bundle each month and you’re using the same marketing system so why isn’t it happening for you? What’s the missing ingredient they've developed and you’ve yet to discover? They have a mindset for success while (please don't take the wrong way) you're still going about with a 9-5 jobseekers attitude. Everyone's heard of personal development but few actually put it to use. If you're one of the ones who hasn't started working on it yet, there's no better time to start. Without giving you and your entrepreneurial attitude the attention you require, the chances of you sticking around long enough to be a success as an online entrepreneur are slim to none. The biggest mistake new entrepreneurs make is focusing too much attention on the new business and not enough time on themselves. If you take even a short amount of time to study the habits of the top income earners in this industry, you’ll quickly see they were the ones who figured out that had to develop their mindset at much as their marketing skills. They spend at least as much time on themselves as they do on the nuts and bolts of their business. For brand new entrepreneurs this can be a hard lesson to learn. The failure rate in our industry is sky high (over 90%) with most failures happening in the first few months. So what can you do to get your business off to a good start? • Figure out your “why.” What’s your motivating influence for being in this business? Is it money, more freedom of time, spending more time with your family? Figure it out before you go too far. Get it on paper and review it often. • Set your income goals. Put some thought into how much you expect to earn your first 90 days, three, six and 12 months in business. Get these goals on paper and post them where you see them everyday. From here, it’s your job to figure out a plan to help you achieve your income goals. Do a business plan. • Develop a mindset for success. Most of us come into this industry from a 9 – 5 job background. The mindset for someone with a job is polar opposite to that of an entrepreneur. The way to change your perception is to read, watch and listen to everything you can get your hands on to help you develop an entrepreneurial attitude. • There are literally hundreds of books on small business success. Classics like “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill to modern day resources by the likes of Robert Kiyosaki (Rich Dad Poor Dad and the Cash Flow Quadrant) will get you headed in the right direction. • Monkey See – Monkey do. Study what the top income earners do and say and don’t be afraid to copy them. They didn’t know it all when they got started but they were smart enough to learn from those who did. Successful home business entrepreneurs live a life that most people can only dream about and will likely never get to experience. If you dedicate as much time to developing your mind as you do to learning the day to day skills of running your own business, you’ll greatly improve your chances of being successful. With a life of complete and utter freedom as the prize, make yourself a promise to do everything you can to give yourself the best chance for success.
